THE STORY OF MY LOTUS

The Lotus Flower grows in deep muddy water, undergoing much unseen growth, before finally breaking through the surface and rising above the murky darkness to reach its potential, its uniqueness, and finally, its own ‘Exquisite Beauty’.

It was this design that began my journey into jewellery design and manufacture and the birth of Jodee.

Initially creating this design purely for me as a visual expression and reminder of my own journey of self discovery, healing of my past muddy waters and wounds. I pondered over its completion for months before finally being happy with it it had to be every bit ME. For it represented my souls healing, including the richness found in the meaningful relationships with the people who help mould me into who I am today.

After many years apart, an opportunity to visit my father who lives in Thailand presented. Whilst there I decided to have it eternalised into a Sterling Silver Pendant so that I could have as a keepsake – a visual and tangible reminder of my journey of healing.  The metaphor that life is a series of challenges and muddy waters that we must swim, but after each and every lesson is this beauty and exquisite richness that shine upon us as through our growth that helps us become more self aware and enlightened and thus in turn better people.

I made one pendant and loved it – upon my return there was so much interest in it that I was asked to have more made for others. I then went back to Thailand and met a beautiful lady Khom and her husband Chai who began my journey of jewellery design and manufacture along with a life long friendship.
